3 year old says me instead of I

My 3.9 year old son constantly says me instead of I. He was a late talker, not putting 2 words together until he was nearly 2.5. His speech is good now, he still mispronounces letter R, but can speak well. Is this something we should be worried about or normal at this age?

It depends, it could just be early speech development in using pronouns and making early mistakes (all children will do this to some extent when they start using pronouns) or it could be more serious, i.e. pronoun reversal can be linked to autism where the child struggles to grasp the association of pronouns depending on who is speaking, but this would only be the case if there is also other concerns (or has missed big milestones when younger like for example not pointing to share interests, like a plane in the sky, by 18M old).

Apologies, ignore my previous reply, I thought it said that he was using 'you" instead of 'I', so pronoun reversal but that is not the case.
