We have tried everything we can think of...

Ignoring it
Telling him:-
'no, that's not nice'
'you'll lose your finger'
'it'll make you poorly'

I know it may just be a phase, but he does it everywhere, nursery, shops, etc..

Any suggestions would be great.

I remember seeing a grown man on a bus wiping snot into hs brylcreamed hair ...gag...

All of which puts me in mind of a very cheesy joke.

Q. What's the difference between a brussel sprout and a bogie?

A. You can get your kid to eat a bogie.

recycle recycle recycle

we were once at a storytelling session at a national trust place. Storyteller (for some reason related to story) asks anyone who has never picked their nose to raise their hands.

Not one. Not one middle aged gent/lady, mum/dad, granny/grandpa. Obviously no children!

Best you can hope is to try to inhibit from doing it in public.

very peculiar one here for you - ds2 stopped picking immediately when ds1 (who'd obviously run out of juicy ones) said "you can only eat bogies if you share them with me"

EEEuccchh. In chorus,ladies?

My offspring not dysfunctional. Honest.

Elasticwoman · 23/09/2007 11:38

You don't. You just get him to realise he must not do it when there is even one other human being around.

mishymoo · 23/09/2007 21:27

Thanks everyone - I think the message here is to just grin and bear it for now and hopefully he will grow out of it!

Desi, I have tried my DS on ABIDEC and he gags everytime it's in his mouth - he won't even open his mouth as soon as he realises it's orange in colour - they really are crafty!

We have read Tony Ross's story 'Don't do that' which is quite funny.

iheartdusty · 25/09/2007 09:07

judging from my DH my MIL did not find a way to stop it after 45 years.
