When can baby sit in a high chair?

My little one is 12 weeks old, i obviously don't plan on having him in a high chair anytime soon but I'm just wondering when they're able to sit in one? I know some parents feed their babies baby rice when they're 4 months old and I'm just thinking... do you put them in a high chair? I'm clueless haha 😂

We put my daughter in one at 4 months as she could hold her head up fine. We didn’t wean until just before 6 months but it was nice to have her up with us at mealtimes etc.

It's when their head control is good enough- 5 months ish with my kids?

I'm not sure baby rice is a good idea until nearer six months. My son can sit in a high chair at 3 months as he has good head control but not weaning to solids until 6 months per nhs guidelines. Even then its if he can sit up, swallow and feed himself.

As said, I won't be weaning until 6 months. Just a general wondering

DS went in, propped up from about 4 mo as he was too heavy for the bouncer when DH took him for an hour or so in the mornings while I had a kip

Both my DSs went in sporadically from about 4 months old to sit up at the table with us while we ate and played games. Depends on the high chair, though - we have one of the bugger to clean padded reclining etc ones, something like the ikea antilop wouldn't provide enough support before independent sitting imo.

(Both began BLW at 6 months)
