5.5 month old baby only 12lbs

My 5.5 month old baby boy is only 12lbs. He also can’t sit on his own and neither has he rolled. He can only move from back to side and side to back. Never front to back or vice versa. He hates tummy time. Should I be worrying?

Have you seen a hv/gp? What birth weight?

Yes I’ve seen the GP. Just been given some special type of formula that’s dairy free to give the baby.

What was his birth weight?
Have you had him weighed monthly or so to see if he follows his centile curve.

My baby is a couple of days off 7 months. She can’t sit up either and weighs 15lb. She has been on catch up growth milk as she did not gain any weight for 3 months, she was 8lb 13oz born and weighed 10lbs at 4.5 months. She can roll but it’s only something she learnt in the last few weeks.

So it really depends. I know you hear most mums say their baby is much larger at that age but as long as he is steadily gaining weight then it’s totally normal for your baby.

Has his weight dropped, or is he following his centile? That's the key thing
