8 year old daughter and lost toy

My daughter will be 8 soon and her behaviour with me (only me!!) is getting worse. She says the reason she gets upset about everything is because about 18 months ago possibly more she lost her small toy unicorn. We lost it in airport so it was never located! We replaced it with two identical soft toys and plenty more but nothing works. She gets so incredibly upset about it and now says her massive tantrums are because of this!!! How can I encourage her to get over this toy and hopefully stop this exhausting behaviour 😥. Is it normal that she gets so upset about it that she can’t regulate her emotions to the point of sobbing and screaming??

I'm sorry OP but this doesn't sound normal for a child to tantrum over a toy lost over 18 months ago.

Are you concerned about any other aspects of her behaviour?

What happens if you tell her to stop being so silly?
