Tantrum in the middle of the night?!!

DS is 2 and a half and has woken twice now recently in the middle of the night and kicked off about something ridiculous.
He woke and shouted for Mummy, I went in and he was sat up but sleepy eyed and he said 'I want a drink' I passed him his drink and flipped the straw bit up for him and he totally lost the plot saying 'I wanted to lift up the straw' and threw himself forward into his pillow 😂 There was no reasoning with him and in the end I had to flip it back down so that he could just lift the straw bit up himself like he wanted and he had a drink and laid back down and went to sleep!
Anyone else experienced this?!
Any advice or help appreciated just so I know it's normal 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Sounds quite typical to me; he would be half a sleep, irritated, and very little would probably annoy him - it would be the same thing for adults I would have imagined. I certainly would feel like that if I wake up in the middle of the night, something as little as someone talking too loud would probably irritate me - for your DS is someone else lifting the straw, same thing.
