Hi,

My 22 month old son has been looking from corner of his eyes while walking since last 6 months and now he does it even while sitting. We took him to neurologist - he asked us a lot of qts and also evaluated/observed him closely during appointment and said everything seems perfectly fine with him but did mention that looking out from corner of the eyes is one of the symptom of autism and would like to see us in 6-8 months. I was wondering, if someone had similar experience and was their kid diagnosed with ASD or did he/she just grow out of it in few months and is doing perfectly fine now.
We have started giving him Nordic Fish oil since last 1 week. Hoping desperately that it helps him to stop looking from corner of his eyes.
We are also seeing OT next week. I pray to god everyday to make him stop doing it.

Thanks alot but so many people say its a tic who does autistic people ..
My son does it when he thinks and when he is tired and sometimes when he remembers something the does it too and is talking but when i ask him at the same time he is answering... he started to do it when he was 22 month old now he is 36 Month old 3 years old.

@Injackane that's rubbish. It MIGHT be - on just the limited information the poster has said, there's no way you could tell this.

@Erdalsmum It could be due to an eye condition, eye muscle problems can cause it and also an uncorrected refractive error (ie needing glasses). It might also be just a habit.

Yes, OT can help with integrating his sensory experience.

@theeyeofdoe , it is possible that there is a visual impairment, but given she had a checkup with a doctor, I assumed he would have checked that first. More likely it is SPD. That’s my opinion.

Not sure why you called my opinion “rubbish”, but I am not interested into online arguments.

If you read my post properly, I didn't say your opinion was rubbish, I just said that you couldn't possibly be certain on the limited information you had.

Thank you for the update. My son is doing this right now. He runs all day and is looking with his eyes like that( he looks in the corner of the eye only when running). He doesn't even look where he is going, i.am going to have a heart attack. I hope he will grow out of it
