DS copies rude behaviours from nursery's kids

DS is 2 and half now and goes to the nursery full day for 5 days a week. I know kids at this age may copies behaviours from other kids to follow the crowd, but since last week, we noticed he started to do something NOT OK / rude to us. For example, he would spit if we asked him to do something he didn't want to do or if we corrected his behaviours, and just laughed if saw we were not happy with what he did... Speaking to his key worker, she said she didn't notice DS did something like this at the nursery but they did have couple of kids in the same room with DS who did such behaviours recently. She also said that they would ask them to stop once notice such behaviours. We have tried our best at home to let DS know such behaviours are not acceptable, in the calm ways, firm ways, even strict ways but no improvement so far. I'm getting more and more worried now because it seems that there is not much we can do here. Will much appreciate if anyone can kindly share some suggestions here! Thanks!
