Ranitadine advise - how often do you need to weigh your baby?

Little one is 9 weeks and while we were in hospital 2 weeks ago was put on ranitadine. When we were discharged we got a weeks worth and it was passed onto the gp. Just got some more and realised the dosage is based on his weight. Spoken to the doctors who said to ring the hv, spoke to duty who said to ring the doctors again 🤷‍♀️ spoke to them again and they said to get him weighed in October but that seems like a long time to not increase the dosage. How often do you weigh your babies on ranitadine? I feel like I'm going round in circles

My son was underweight so was weighed fortnightly anyway, but his ranitidine dosage was reviewed monthly (we would weigh a few days before and then include his weight on the repeat prescription request).

Hi. My sons been on ranitidine pretty much since he was about 6 weeks old. The dose they give him then was 0.65ml twice a day. They told me to keep him on that till I started weaning him and then eventually he wouldn't need it because he'd be having solid food so his tummy muscle would've strengthened. Never once did they change his dose until I prompted them to do so the other week as he is 7.5 months old now and reflux has got gradually worse as he's been getting bigger as the dose wasn't enough for his weight. They just kept shrugging me off when I asked saying it would stop with him eating solid foods which it didn't. He's now 20lb 14oz and takes 1.2ml twice a day.

Baby will need their dose altering but only if it seems to have stopped working. Hope this helps xx

Thanks 💜 it was working great but all of a sudden it seems to not be making much difference. He's small probably about 9lb now at 9 weeks and is on 0.26ml 3 times a day. It's hard as he was in hospital as he had a seizure, stopped breathing and started bleeding. They gave him the ranitadine in case he had a bleeding ulcer (he didn't) but it was a happy coincidence that it helped him as we'd assumed it was colic. Not actually seen the gp or anyone but hospital were happy to keep him on it and discharge him with a weeks worth but didn't really have any guidance, just that they'd send a copy of his discharge onto gp and they should put it on repeat.
