should i be worried about DS? pic included

he's nearly 3. this is something he's started doing recently. he likes to line up his toy cars too, all facing the same way.

DP thought maybe he could be autistic, but there aren't really any signs there that i know of.

what do you think?

Lining up cars (or any other object) tends to be a one of the stereotypical signs of classic autism (a classic example of repetitive behavior) but then again all children will line up objects to some extent (it is even a milestone in one of the earlier ASQ tests), however it really depends on the obsessive nature/frequency of the action, for example, autistic children will line up objects all around the house and get very upset if you disrupt or interfere with their line of objects or try to distract them from what they are doing. The photo you posted could be an example of 'finger posturing' which again can be a sign of autism, depending how often he does it. How is he other development going? things like understanding of language, his non-verbal communication like pointing to share (a plane in the sky) and request (pointing to a toy or food), social referencing, etc?
