Please reassure me that it is not unusual for a 1 year old not to be saying any recognisable words!

That about sums it up - my DS has just turned 1 and is not saying anything yet. He babbles away and does say 'mama' and 'dada' but it is just part of his babbling and not specifically at me or DH.

I keep reading (I know I shouldn't) about how, at 1, they can usually say at least 1 word in context so please tell me that it is ok that he can't.

Thanks for all the reassurance - I knew you would all put my mind at rest

I really must stop comparing my delightful Ds to other babies

CB Toby can't say any words at all. All he says is Dada in different intonations to everything, EXCEPT to DH.......

DD1 had no words at all until around 20 months. By 2 years old she was speaking in sentences. She is now nearlt 4 and you can't shut her up!

DD2 almost 1 and I've not heard any recognisable words yet!

Ceebee, Hiya

Ds says(read- makes the sounds) mamama, mmmm, dad dad,ba, da, la ,ooc(weve taken this to mean look but arent intirerly sure)

He does the same as your Ds. Lots of babbling and noises but no actual words and even his mam and dad isnt directed at us.

Ive also been worrying about it as DD at his age was saying 6 words very clearly. But like the others say if he can understand instructions or what your saying then hes fine.

Dd2 is 15 months and not saying anything.
