I wonder if anyone has had this before. My son who will be 7 in June seems to have developed sudden separation anxiety, but only with his daddy!
Daddy goes to the gym every evening once the little one is in bed at 7pm. Older one is allowed to stay up later until 8pm.
He’s absolutely fine with daddy going to the gym until it comes to his bedtime. He will ask if daddy is ok, when will daddy be home. He’ll say things like he thinks daddy is dead and to call him to check he’s ok. If my phone beeps from the other room he’ll ask who it is (during the day he has no interest about who is texting me).
Daddy is at work all day and my son isn’t anxious then. It just seems to be when he’s in bed. I can hear him stirring until he hears daddy come home. Then he relaxes and goes to sleep.
I feel so sad for him because it’s horrible worrying about someone.
Nothing has changed recently, Daddy has always gone to the gym every evening since before the kids were even born.
The only thing that has changed is that we’re expecting another baby and I’ve been incredibly sick so daddy has taken on more of mummy’s ‘jobs’ around the house.
Has anyone else experienced this or know how I can help my little boy be care free again.
Thanks.
