Toddler and baby making each other cry...?

I have a 18 month old and a 7month old, both lovely boys. Recently they’ve started to copy each other’s crying. The smaller one cry’s when the big one cry’s, I think because it makes him jump but the big one cry’s because the small one cry’s more for attention or just to be the same..?

Has anyone had this? And what can I do to help stop/prevent/comfort the situation without making it worse?

My friend had this with hers. She used to tend first to whoever cried first unless the secondary cryer was injured.

So....18 month old falls over, hurts self...she'd go and hug him. Then the baby would start because she could sense the upset....my friend would quickly offer the baby a pat and a kind word but finish comforting the older one.
They're 8 and 6 now and love one another.

Thank you,

Yes atm they are also very good at loving each other! The big one always gives him hugs and kisses and if he sees his bottle or dummy he’ll give it to him...

Just knowing what to do with the negative!
Thanksn
