CBT for teenage ds's depression. What to expect?

Has anyone had experience of this? My ds has mild depression and has recently started seeing a CBT therapist. She seems very nice and I think ds trusts her enough to talk freely, but he confessed yesterday that he finds it all rather patronising and he's not doing anything they haven't already covered in school. What can we expect? Is this a long haul? Does everyone start off sceptical? I've no experience.

Do you think he's gaining anything from Talking things through with the Therapist?

It's early days. He may be. He has had a good day today - a rare occurrence - but I don't know whether it's an indicator that something is helping, or whether it's too early to expect results. I guess that's why I came on here, to try to gauge what progress we can expect. I'll certainly take it! Lovely to get a smile and a hug.
