Eyes - 10 month old - should I be worried?

I’ve just noticed in the past week that one of my 9 month old eyes crosses. Not all the time. Just occasionally.

He always does a side eye look too (since a few months ago), where he doesn’t turn his head but he looks to side with both eyes for a couple of seconds, people have commented on it.

What can it be?

I'd see your gp or hv. It could be due to a wide bridge of nose causing a pseudo squint or it could be an eye issue e.g. my dd had a squint caused by long sight which was picked up at 18 months old

My youngest had the eye crossing issue. Just started all of a sudden at 18 months old. Was diagnosed by ophthalmologist as strabismus, weakness of eye muscles.
It didn’t happen all the time, mainly when he was tired. Please get it looked at professionally as soon as possible. We got a first opinion that wearing glasses would correct it. It didn’t. Second opinion had us patching the good eye for up to 4 hours a day to try and strengthen the muscles of the crossing eye but Dr said that if no improvement then would need to be surgery, after 6 months patching and no real improvement, he had outpatient surgery. No more crossing, he has some 3D vision, we just have to patch for 2 hours a day to improve his 3D vision and bring back eye sight to 20:20.
The crossing caused his brain to see 2-3 images of everything, so to help him see clearer, his brain stopped receiving images from the weaker eye. The patching is training his brain to start accepting the images again.
