My poor baby boy's skin is terrible. He's three weeks old and the newborn spots he first got on his cheeks have spread all over his face, now down his neck and chest too. He also seems to have dry flaky skin on his forehead and eyelids and is noticeably more red than friends' babies. Sad

Everybody keeps saying it's normal but it's so bad now, I don't know if it is? He's mix fed about 2/3 breastmilk to 1/3 formula (sma), seems happy and a chilled out little chap otherwise, I just hate the spots and the dry skin I'm worried about being eczema. Tried breastmilk and coconut oil on the skin, no effect / possibly made it worse.

Help! Anything I can / should do? I will ask my mw at my discharge appointment in a few days but they don't seem bothered.

My baby girl had this (see pic). The GP told me it was my hormones leaving her body???? Anyway, within a fortnight it had cleared right up by itself!

My DD had similar at about 4 weeks I think. Started on her face then spread to scalp neck and chest. No temperature and fed well, normal nappies so I just asked health visitor who said it was milk spots and will go away on its own. A week later it cleared up, lasted about 2 weeks in total.
As for the dry skin, his skin will still be adjusting to life outside the womb so I wouldn't worry.
Do still get it checked out by MW and then get second opinion from HV just to be safe.
