my ds is almost 4 weeks and the hv said today she has a tongue tie and recommended we get it snipped - she feeds (bf) well and that seems to be the main reason for doing it so i'm not sure we should. any thoughts? thanks!

My DS had a tongue tie - severe enough to make breastfeeding a total nightmare and I gave up after 5 weeks. His was snipped at 8 months old - and it was the best thing we ever did. I am absolutely fine with the whole bottle feeding thing but it was speech that I was really worried about. Immediately after the operation he made new sounds - but even at almost 12 months' old he is still behind other children his age with the sounds he makes. I'm not worried as I am sure that he will catch up in due course.
