Ds2 is 6mo. He is the polar opposite of ds1 who was crawling at 5mo and walking at 9mo
He hates his tummy time with a passion. He cries and cries the second we flip him and will make no attempt to move he just lies with his nose to the floor crying.
He can't roll either way, despite us always lying him down and helping him in hopes we will get the muscles working.
I raised it with the HV last week who totally dismissed it as 'normal'.
I'm sure it probably is but just want some reassurance from mums who have been there :(
Other than this he is an extremely bright, happy and alert little boy.
Thanks

How’s his muscle tone generally? Could stand on your knee if you were holding him? Can he pick things up?

Zara87 · 21/10/2018 21:20

He can pick things up with no issues at all but has never successfully stood on my knee or anything. His legs bend instantly. He has a jumperoo which he will go in for 5 mins or so a few times a day but he doesn't bounce in it, he just hangs there whilst playing with the toys! He's getting huge -he is now 18.5lb and looks like a giant baby as he just doesn't burn off any calories!

If he can’t bear weight on his legs and hasn’t rolled at 6 months, I think it’s worth going to the GP and asking for a referral to get him checked out.

It’s probanly nothing but if they’re not meeting their milestones, they do need checking Smile

Zara87 · 22/10/2018 08:40

Okay thank you for the advice. I need to take him this week anyway due to a cough he can't shake so I will raise it with the gp. I fully get that all babies develop differently but it just doesn't quite seem right to me. Thanks again:-)

I think that’s the important bit. You are the Mother and you think it’s not right, Trust your instincts OP and insist on a referral Smile

Rolling isn't a formal milestone. One of mine didn't roll until 13 months, we never thought anything of it - he crawled before that at 10'months!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 22/10/2018 18:44

gower could hours bear weight on their legs and lift their head?

gower4 · 22/10/2018 22:43

Weight bearing - I can't remember at 6 months, to be honest. Yes they could lift their heads though.
