DD is 3 years 2 months and has been potty trained during the day since just after he 3rd birthday. She actually surprised us with this. She has an expressive speech disorsee and global developmental delay and being assessed for autism (my eldest is on the spectrum).

She is really happy to use the potty to do her business with very few accidents but is absolutely petrified of the toilet. She will not even sit on it at home and she will not sit on the smaller toilets at her pre school. Fortunately they have potties.

Yesterday we were out shopping and she needed a wee. I keep a potty in the car but rather than going to the car I decided to take her to the toilet. Well she screamed the whole toilet down with someone in the next cubicle.

I don’t want to force her. She already holds herself for too long.

Shall I just wait til she’s older to use the toilet or try and encourage it now?

She can’t use a potty forever 🙈

I would just wait until she's older then try her wth one of those seats that go over the toilet. I don't think it's very unusual to be scared of the toilet and she's only been trained on the potty for a few months.
