MorningTownRide · 25/09/2008 15:28

I'm sure someone on the last thread said for child protection issues the correct anatomical name should be used but didn't explain why....

mppaw · 25/09/2008 15:45

Twinkle

Claire236 · 25/09/2008 16:58

We have boy bits & girl bits in our house. ds (3.5 yo) knows proper words for his bits & particularly likes the word testicle but for some reason I don't feel comfortable with the proper words for girl bits. Can't say I consciously feel any shame, just don't like the words.

AnnasBananas · 25/09/2008 21:16

My neighbour's kids call their's 'flower' and 'winkie' I do find this funny.

In our house it's 'bottom' and 'front bottom' if she wants to be specific.

karencchu · 28/09/2008 01:18

Mine call it "fangita" or "gita" for short! I think my dh got it from some tv programme and it has stuck ever since. When i was little girls had a "ding dong" and boys had a "ding a ling"

squilly · 28/09/2008 22:03

squillyjunior is 7 and calls hers a 'tinkle'...don't ask! I've explained it's a vagina, I've explained several names you can use for it but tinkle has stuck.

She knows her friends have different names for it: -some call it a minky, some call it 'bits and bobs' nanny calls it a 'mary' (I know...a bit naff and not at all nice when we were reading peter and jane type books back in the 70's!) and she calls it a tinkle. The medical terms are known, but not favoured, at present.

The boys private parts are called willies as a general rule. Again, she knows they're called penises, tinkles (it's interchangable around here) dickie dumplings (good old nanny again) and other things we haven't gotten around to (ie dicks, pricks, etc).

I've told her if there's ever a name or word she hears and doesn't understand she can always ask. That way we're covered if she gets shocked by anything. One of her friends came home and typed Fuck into the WII front page, so I know she's getting exposed to swear words now. All fun and games!!!

franfoxy2003 · 28/09/2008 22:11

in my house my ds says 'mummys willy' so i say 'no mummys girl bits'

WendyWeber · 28/09/2008 22:14

Was front bottom here when my DDs were small.

Sorry.

squilly · 28/09/2008 22:25

My dd also says that she has a little willy...it's just tucked away. Eh, but kids these days are so blummin merphisticated!
