When is the right time to buy DD a first bra

DD is just 12 and apparently one of only 2 girls in her PE class not wearing a bra yet.

I was wondering at what point I should be getting her measured for her first bra? There's a tiny bit of development, but not much. Is there a recommended point where it's recommended?

She's been wearing cheap and basic crop vests from Primark up until now - I'm wondering whether there's anything I could get her that'll be comfortable but make her feel like she fits in more? Thanks

When she has boobs.

Thing is, I'm not sure what counts as having boobs. She is developing a bit, but not a lot.

Does she want a bra? I was hoping that dd would tell me that she wanted a bra but I ended up having to organise a shopping trip for this purpose.
If there's only 2 girls in crop tops rather than bras then I think I would buy her a bra even if it's the smallest size that makes no difference

I agree with rainingcatsanddog

The staff at M&S are great for this, there are many starter bras, I believe the range is called 'Angel Bras' and they also do pretty crop tops. It'll get her used to the feeling of wearing one anyhow.

Thanks for the tip Sunflower (and others for your replies too). Maybe I'll try there.

DD says she's OK with having crop tops rather than a bra but wants something more substantial than what she has at the moment - so that type of crop top sounds a good place to start.

Just didn't want to take her to get a starter bra and her be embarrassed if now is not the right time!
