Family therapy -- any advice for a family considering it?

Hello -- this is my first post on this subject.

Our family is small -- just me, my partner and our 12-yr-old DS (Year 7). We are considering embarking on family therapy and are asking for advice on how you found a therapist (through GP? CAMs? School? Therapeutic organisation?), how the process helped you, etc.

Our son, ostensibly doing well (has friends, at a good school), is terribly angry with us so much of the time and we are finding this difficult to deal with. It's having a huge impact on all our relations within the family and causing friction and sadness. DS, though very capable, is angry, anxious, has some self-esteem issues. He is having low-level trouble at school, which is worrying, too. Any advice/thoughts would be gratefully received. (There are no issues of bereavement/divorce/abuse, btw.)
