Hello everyone 👋🏿 My little boy isn’t really speaking, the only one he does say is hiya but I’m not sure he knows the meaning as he uses is for other things too.

One of the things I started about 8-9 months ago was baby sign language and he is only now starting to sign but they aren’t too accurate he knows drink and eat.

He also knows what things are when I talk to him I can ask him to turn the light on and he will go and turn the light on I ask him where his cup is and he will get it, he also chats back but it’s just typical baby talk.

I’m becoming concerned that he is slow to learn and that he might be a bit behind.

I am going to take him to the doctor/ hv if he gets to 2 and hasn’t improved much am I worrying too much ?

Any helpful tips we already talk everyday, read books and sing songs.

I think in this case you are worrying too much. My DD1 didn't start picking up words till about 20m and was very slow to talk, she was about 3 before she started to chat and from then on has never stopped taking.
I recently went to get a hearing test for my DS (27m) and slt, he knows only 5 words but they won't take any action till he is 30 months unless there were other signs of disability (hearing test is fine and showing no obvious signs of learning disability)
