Is this kind of obsession normal from a 3 year old

My dd is 3year 3 months. She's recently decided her favourite colour is yellow and everything has to be yellow like her plate, her bowl, her drinking straw and at Xmas she got upset that there were no yellow paper hats in the crackers.

She hasn't previously been obsessed with a colour.

She does enjoy the same movies or tv shows but not in an obsessed manner but is reluctant to try watching something new.

Is this just normal 3 year old or a cause for concern?

Perfectly normal in my experience.

FWIW don't invest in everything yellow because the minute you they change their mind Wink

Mine are 5 and 3 and have just swapped their favourite colours which is confusing but convenient at the same time.

I hope it's normal! (Fairly sure it is...)
DD2 is 3.6yo and for her it's purple. She's also obsessed with anything Peppa, My Little Pony and most recently, her Fingerling, which accompanies her everywhere. We go through phases with certain books and films too that become the only one she wants to read/watch, then two weeks later we're on to something else. I try to encourage variety, and have implimented a strict 'lucky dip' policy for plates/cups/face wipes (we have rainbow-coloured cloth ones) as I just can't deal with the meltdowns if eg all the purple plates are in the dishwasher or her sister just used the last purple wipe.

My eldest was very keen on yellow too. Turned out that he is somewhat red/green colour blind and yellow is particularly bright if you are kind this. This was tested by an optician. Nothing you can do about it and he's fine (and an adult now).
