I have am 8 yr old DS who only showers/baths when I instigate it.
At what age is the general consensus when kids take the initiative and think it's time to wash!?
I'm happy to keep pushing but I see no awareness that it's 'time'.....ie....he's dirty or dare I say it....he's willy stinks!

God with boys, much older - think my son was about 18 before I found I never had to tell him to get in the bath/shower. Some boys get better at puberty I understand - when they get interested in girls (if that floats their boat!), my son has aspergers and hasn't really got that awareness of the impact of him on others so it was much later, but he seems to have got it now!

I still have to tell my 12yo to have a bath. Sorry OP.

My DS has done various sports since he was 6 so always had to shower on a daily basis. He is 17 now and even on sport free days showers because he is in the habit to. make him shower every day regardless and it will soon become a habit.

Yes, yes to daily showers becoming a habit.

Ds(13) has showered every morning since 9ish when he started to smell. Dh and I shower daily in the morning as a minimum, so he does too.

Thanks all for the help!
Reassuring to know it's normal for stinky boys to be stinky boys unless prompted most of the time! Lol!
