So, is 7 too young/average/ 'normal'? Pros (if any), cons, advice greatly appreciated. Mother of a 7 yo DS who has a very recent interest in having one from Santa (he changes which) and ? has been very influenced by peers(main interest being around FIFA 18). We have an old WI with FIFA 10 which he's started playing on recently and loving over half term after showing no interest when shown before over last year. Otherwise seems no plussed by technology/computers. We share a tablet which he never played games on/never asks, never uses our phone screens, doesn't watch much TV. Maybe 3-4 hours over an entire week.
Want him to be akin with his peers though obviously if he wants to be but equally don't want to enter a point of gaming no return!!

Google the 3-6-9-12 rule. Scandinavian countries follow it I think. But gives good reasons and guidelines. Quick overview below...

  1. Avoid the screens for children under 3.
  2. Do not use portable video consoles before age 6.
  3. No Internet for children under 9.
  4. Unsupervised Internet use starting at age 12.
