Hi, my 12 year old daughter has learning difficulties and is in the process of being assessed for autism. The educational psychologist who assessed her recently phoned us to say she'd noticed something which could be absence seizures. She described them as a long blink, and during one of them, she dropped her pencil. I haven't noticed the long blink myself, but she does sometimes stare hard, with her jaw clenched, face trembling and she'll clench and roll her fists inwards. She's been doing this since she was a baby, usually when she gets excited. We just thought it was a sweet little quirk. I do feel a blooming idiot now! We have spoken to our GP and he has referred us to the paediatric team. I'd like to try to get one on film as it would help a specialist to see it, so do you have any tips? Every gadget seems to take so long to set up. These last for about 4 seconds at a time. Some are even shorter. If anyone has any experience with this, I'd love some advice. Thanks.
