Help!!! 15 months shows signs of autism

Hi, my 15 months boy does not pointing, doesnt waving, doesnt understand simple command, he doesnt talk either. We are a bilingual family. I talk in 2 language with him.

He doent understand simple command aswell. But he is very friendly. He wants to play with other children. He shows jealousy whenever I hug his daddy. He will push his daddy away and hug me.

Sometimes he ignore when I called his name, but sometimes he knows his name. But he is not waving or pointing at all. He is not talking at all. He used to say mama but when he was 12 months he stopped.

Should I be worried? Is he only delay or has a sign of autism?

I am very confused I know pointing waving and understand simple command is one of the signs of autism. But he is not withdrawn or ignoring other people. He is very friendly and wants to play with other kids.

Please help me. What should I do...

He's very young. I think they see not pointing as something to be concerned about from 18 months, if not later.

Is he clapping? Does he put his hands up to be picked up?

Yes he is clapping and put his hands up to be picked. But he is not doing anything other than that.

Should I not be worried???

There are so many different things to factor in, he's so young. I wouldn't worry too much about pointing and things at this age, more his interaction with yourself and others. Does he want to show you things? Share toys? What's his eye contact like?

Even so, I think it's a while until you could properly interpret his behaviour. Maybe speak to your GP.

He doesnt understand if I say give teddy to mama or anything. I dont think he understand anything that I say to him.

He doesnt show me what he wants aswell. if his toys out of his reach and he wants to get it.He is persistent to get it by hinself. He doesnt ask me for help.

His eye contact I am not sure. He will make eye contact sometimes but not when I want him to. For example when I talked to him, he usually ignore me. But he makes eye contact if he wants to be picked up.

I dont know how many eye contact to be considered normal or not.

We asked health visitor to come and yesterday she comes and she said my son need a play theraphy. So they will come fkr 6 weeks to play with him. Even the health visitor bit confused because of his. Ehaviour. I hope he just late bloomer.

From what you have said, it looks much more likely that it is a possible fluctuating hearing loss, or just simply that he is growing up in a bilingual house. Getting his hearing checked would be a good first step.

Children in a bilingual household where one parent speaks more than one language can delay speech development I believe. It is better if each parent talks only in their native language.

Hearing loss would definitely delay speech development.

It could be a few things or like you say he may just be a little behind. It's great he's going to get at some play therapy, see how this goes and use their ideas in between sessions. Once the play therapy has finished i would imagine they or the hv will talk with you about what they've seen.

Honestly please don't worry just yet, he's way too young right now. I fell in that trap and now my 2 year old can do all that and he understands so much. Give it some time, people get far too hung up on stringent milestones when in reality all children develop at really different rates.

My daughter is a bit like this. She has just turned 15 Months and doesn't point or wave. She doesn't say much apart from dadda and mmmm (when she gets food, not sure if this is classed as a word?) if you ask her for a kiss she will kiss you and she's is very independent and wants to do everything herself. I'm starting to worry now.
