mrsFogetful, I though i'd start another thread as th other one was getting away from the hayfever issue.

definatly worth trying fish oil, our local ADHD group are recommending Eskimo oil and some of the kids have even managed to come of ritlin completly!

another fish oil thread

Jan de Vries Child Essence has also had good reports from several parents. also in drops you add to water/juice. also from health shop.

Also Bioforce Avena Sativa, calms child down, works on central nervous system, also in drops.
can also help with teething and colic!

Bioforce Valerian-hops for sleeping...fantastic! ask GP if he can take it while on sleeping tablet.

Thanks Gloworm, I found some internet info suggesting the same too. Damn - already ordered the eskimo kids! Of course I should have put it to mumsnet first. Nevermind, will order normal eskimo oil for dd and maybe I'll take the kids one myself - could probably do with some improved brain function!

according to ds1's nutritionist - if your child goes hyper on oils its because there's too much omega 6 in it. He said lots of children have bad reactions to EyeQ in particular.

mrsforgetful · 03/07/2004 16:58

what about the high anxiety level my son has- he concetrates quite well but his severe reaction to much of what he experiences seems to leave him constantly 'on edge'- and has 'tantrum like fits' which at age 7 are not pleasant- he is likely to have Aspergers-

mrs F- the nutritionist said if they are getting too much omega 6 then some pathway kicks in (can't remember the name) and so they get too much info iyswim. So that's why ds1 went hyper- too much info coming in for him. Are you using eye q? Might be worth switching to something with more omega 3's less omega 6's. MOst autis are very low in omega 3 and have too much omega 6 already.

JJ- not tried anything yet as i'm in that ridiculous situation of waiting for an assessment for a diagnosis.....so feel reluctant to 'mask or improve' him too much!!!! I know others have said this before!! But having said that .....his 'literal' way of seeing/hearing is causing so much distress that i may try something soon- and make it clear that if there is any improvement that it is due to the fishoil.

sounds like you're in a real catch 22 situation mrsforgetful, when is his assessment? do you have long to wait?
