cruiser shoes - waste of money?

Ds has been cruising the furniture for a few weeks and is gaining confidence. I noticed Clarks sell cruiser shoes, are these just a ploy to get us to spend £30 every 6 weeks or useful???

ok so my ds isn't walking yet but for when he is ... when does your mum say the "foot mechanics" are ok for hard soled shoes?

oh and she has carpet but too cold for bare feet at the moment so soft leather shoes or socks for inside?

Ok am hopeless case, marketting won. Bought some today, they are very cute and we got a cheesey photo of him in his first shoes. Will only use them for outdoors or grubby pub type places.
