9 year old can't pronounce the letter "r"

Hi

Does anyone have any advice? I mentioned it to his teacher at the recent parents evening - she said she hadn't noticed it but would keep her eyes (or maybe ears!) open. I found a book devoted to the subject but it's over £25 on Amazon. Is this the sort of thing I would go to the GP about? It's every single word that starts with "r" and I worry that the other children might start taking the proverbial if we don't do something about it.

TIA, Anjelika

Speak to the GP about speech therapy. It's called Rhotacism and can be improved.

Speech therapy can work but a bully will bully regardless so don't worry too much on that front. They don't need a reason. I also had this problem. I still have it a bit but to be honest no one mentioned it - apart from a few family members who should have known better.

Speech therapy is what you need.

Thanks for the replies folks. I will get a doctor's appointment booked in the morning.
