When will my 16 month old give kisses and cuddles?

My DS1 is 16 months old and has always been a wriggly baby who didn't like to be held much. When he was much younger this was heartbreaking for me as a first time mum. He is starting to become a little more inclined to sit for a brief cuddle or put his head forward when I say 'give mummy a kiss'. I long for the day he puts his arms around me or shows affection, can any of you give me a rough idea when this happened for you to give me a little hope! I don't mean the 6 month old slobbering on ur face, but the proper cuddle! Xx

My dd wasn't a cuddly baby at all. She goes in for a cuddle now at 3 and a half if she's tired or Has hurt herself, or occasionally if shes watching TV she will snuggle up. This started around 2.5 but she's not a super cuddly one which is just part of her personality.
Don't be upset- they're all different and you can't force them to be cuddly if they don't want to. He loves you whether he cuddles or not!

dd1 was never cuddly as a toddler, and isn't now. She is warm and emotionally responsive, but just doesn't do physical affection. dd2 is still very cuddly at five and a half.

Just wanted to say, can totally associate here. My 13 monther has always been wriggly and not liked cuddles, it's like he's really busy and you're holding him up just recently he started to come into me and tuck his head in for a cuddle, lasts literally 2 seconds then he's away again conquering the world ha! But as I hadn't had cuddles from him ever, that 2 seconds is bliss and I'm totally grateful for it. Whereas if he hugged me all the time if think nothing of it so every cloud and all that. Your time will come I'm sure and you'll be over the moon no matter how short it is! X
