Repeating end of word-d-ds. Anyone's DC do this?

DS just 2 and has suddenly started 'echoing' the end of words which end with a hard consonant (book-k-k, hat-t-t etc). It seems involuntary rather than deliberate.

Anyone else experienced this? He's just had a big language leap so I am guessing it is a passing phase, but would be interested to know if it has happened to others and whether it resolved.

As a retired primary TA I would think at his age he is becoming more aware of words and 'sounds' - he probably quite enjoys the sound at the end of words, so he 'plays' with it.

But keep a note of how it develops, in case it should become a problem. And books like Dr Seuss or Beatrix Potter's rhyming books will encourage and extend his awareness of sounds.

He has only recently started sounding out word endings clearly so it might be an element of practicing/playing with the sound but it seems more unconscious - he always seem to have two repetitions that are a softer echo of the original word.

I know stammering can sometime happen when language is developing but word ending repetition seems a bit different.
