Can a baby be influenced by a toddler?

Hi everyone. I was wondering if my 6 months old baby could be influenced by other toddler. I have a friend living with us at the moment due to some circumstances in her life. We offered to help. She has a little girl who is almost 3. She screams and cries a lot. Recently my DS started to cry hysterically and scream if he doesn't like something. Could this be just a normal thing in his development or is he learning this from the little girl? What do you think?

Well it's certainly possible that he is picking up on any tense emotions. He won't be copying her exactly but they do learn from the children around them.

Why does the 3 year old scream and cry a lot? Has she been through a violent break up with her mum and dad?

No, her mum and dad are together. But they moved country recently and maybe she got affected by that. Or maybe it's just the way she is. I try not to interfere too much as it's their child. I keep my fingers crossed that my LO won't be like that.

Is the 3 year old getting enough stimulation and entertainment? Is she being taken out to parks and things? Playgroup?

Yes, she goes to park. But not to playgroups. I took them once to one which is sponsored by the council, but she never went after. How I said, don't want to interfere too much, even if I have a different opinion. We contradicted once, when the girl grabbed a toy from my little boy and I said to her that she has to learn to share and her reply was "I'll see you when your boy will be the same age". They say that when the little girl goes to the nursery she will be better.

How long have they been with you? Is it just you and your child in the house or have you a partner? It must be very stressful! Is she likely to get her own place soon?

It's me and my DH with our baby and them three. It's a bit crowded. They've been with us for more than 2 months. I offered them the help, so can't do much about it. Today we found out that they have been accepted to rent a flat. Hopefully they move to the new place next week. Just, the little girl is so overwhelming and my DS adores her. He is all giggles when he sees her. That's why I'm a bit worried about her influence on him. He is now at that age when he wants to copy everyone.
