11 month old won't eat anything waking up hungry in the night

My 11 month old won't eat anything. I have tried her on finger food but she won't eat that either and now she's waking up 3-4 times at night crying for milk..Please help as this has been happening for about a month now and I'm exhausted!

Oh and I have spoken to the HV several times about this but they are not helpful at all!

Do you think she might have a sore mouth or throat? My DS went through a phase at that age of being too tired to eat his tea, when he woke at about 11pm I offered him a weetabix as well as his bottle just because I was on my knees with tiredness. Worked for us and he soon out grew that phase.

How much milk does she take during the day? If she's full of milk, she won't eat much. Don't get me wrong, milk is important, of course, but if it is important to you to get her eating solids more, then maybe consider laying off the milk a bit. Give it to her after a meal only, for example.

Ophelia, not sure if you're asking me about milk or OP. If it's me, I mean any kind of milk. As in, don't fill her up on liquids when you want her to eat solids

Sorry was asking OP,
Breastmilk is less filling but comforting for an 11mo.
Formula/adults cow milk can be filling and may put off hunger for solid food.
I agree with PissPotPourri!

Ophelia I stopped breastfeeding at 9.5 months my milk has dried up now. She's on formula and I've started giving her a little cow's milk as she's one in just over 2 weeks

They just keep telling me to give her finger food but she won't eat it.

I'd make a doctors appointment as if she is refusing food even when hungry (like you said she wouldn't eat when you held off the milk) then she may have something troubling her. The longer you leave it the more stressed you will get and she will pick up on this. HV are hit and miss and it sounds like you have a crap one, take her docs to get her checked over.

Crikey, no milk at all during the day and she still wouldn't eat anything?
That does sound unusual and extreme.
I'm sure you've tried this too but with ds2 I had similar, less extreme issues and went cold turkey for a couple of nights ie put up with regular waking and crying for milk and refused night time feeds. He was then starving in the morning and would eat a great breakfast.
I found it 'reset' his eating and milk balance and routine. Sounds really obvious but it's easy to give in when they're crying for much of the night

glintwithpersperation she's doing all of those things, she's been walking since 9 months and could stand up at 7 months HV said her weight is fine

I would pop to the GP and get her checked over - it's unusual behaviour but might not be anything to worry about. Good luck. Has she ever eaten any solid food?

I started weaning her onto solids at 4 month on the advice of the pediatrician because she had very bad reflux, everything was going really well up until about a month ago. I've started offering bits of toast and bread, small pieces of fruit as well as her usual purees but she doesn't want anything

Otherwise I really wonder if you should be more insistent that your GP gets her properly checked out.

A total loss of appetite may mean something is up. Usually if you skip a milk feed in the morning, they will be hungrier for lunch...
