Is not going to the school Christmas concert an unfeasibly harsh punishment for an unruly 9 year old?

After reapeated requests, demands etc for her to a) comb her hair and b) stop shouting in protest all the time about it, I said I wouldn't go to her concert. Was trying to think quickly of something that would "hurt" but wondering now if this one is a bit harsh.

Anyone?

I am going - today. And she's playing the violin . And she's combed her hair for teh last 2 days - double . Think we both get hormonal, I must try harder too.

good decision Tinker! Imagine how guilty you'd have felt sitting at home while she played... And fantastic that she has combed her hair. Perhaps the really horrible threat has a place after all... although leads to lots of heartache as you agonise over whether to see it through.. Hope the hair combing continues after today for you

I think she has now realised that the hair is non-negotiable!
