Jekyl and Hyde 8 year Old

I have an 8 year old who is driving us all mad. He is angry at us, argumentative, always has to have the last word. After all this he tells us all that he is leaving, he isnt loved he doesnt belong in the family.

We are at our wits end. The triggers are leaving the house and bed time.

I actually posted 2 years ago with similar probs so maybe last year was not so bad.

I know all the best practice but when he is shouting, throwing and hitting its really tough to keep your cool.

He has a real sweet tooth - i have wondered if it is sugar related but that just sounds so middle class.

Willing to try anything - hopping on one leg wearing a shower cap and holding a whisk - if it works.

Going to get flamed but have you considered that he is unhappy

The thing is he probably isnt happy at the moment as we have got ourselves in a downward spiral, so at the moment everyone is tense and worried and waiting for him to explode. He is better when he has one parent with him rather than 2 - but thats not always workable and its a bit drastic :)

It's your job as his mother to make him happy.
