Odd 'balding' hairline on 1 month old

One of my 1 month old babies has fluffy hair around the sides and back, but is bald on the top looking like a balding middle aged businessman. There is a defined line around the bald patch. DH is worried that the hair on top won't grow?

Don't worry. Our dd was born with a full head of hair then slowly but surely it receded and rubbed off and left her resembling a balding old man. Soon grew back though and at 7 months has a nice even spread of hair again :)

It's normal. The baby hair often recedes and falls out and new hair grows in its place.

Yes totally normal. Both my DC born with hair which receded as you describe at around 1 month leaving just the back. Grew back thicker and looked fine by 3-4 months. Luckily hats are cute on babies.

Happened to my DS too and he now has a luxurious head of hair. He was bald from about 2 months to 7 months old

Both mine went bald at about 3 months. DS went from black to brown, DD grew back the same colour. My sister was auburn (postman?) and changed to light brown (phew!).
All quite normal.

Yep, really normal as others have commented. My daughter was born with thick, black, rather long hair. She receeded from the front and sides and by four months had a bizzare mohican. By six months it had all regrown and now she has thick blonde hair covering her head.
