Stressed that DD still cries at nursery drop off after a year

Sorry, as I'm sure this has been done before, but I'm feeling stressed about the fact that DD still cries almost every morning when we drop her at nursery, and she has been going for over a year (she is just 2 and goes four days a week).

I have no issue with the nursery, they are really excellent and seem to have a genuine bond with her, but she cries almost every day when DH or I drop her off. She's recently moved to the older group and its got worse again - it's just agony leaving her!

She is fine there during the day, eats and sleeps well, and is otherwise developing really well, but I keep telling myself it will get better but it hasn't. I suppose I'm just looking for opinions or reassurance. Or help figuring out if we should change things.

How long does it take her to stop crying? Have they told you. If she calms down quite quickly I would presume her tears are her way of telling you she'd rather be with you than at nursery which is an ok thing to feel really. Happy at home with you.
My ds took a while too but did get in the swing of it eventually. I would probably make drop off a quick as possible rather than dwelling on the tears.

Thank you, yes, I give her a hug and a kiss and tell her I'll see her later and then handover and leave.

They say she usually settles down quickly. I know you're talking sense, it's just been bothering me that it's still tough after a year.

Same here. .. every single day for a year now. I've convinced myself it's just a habit now!! If she is doing well and seems happy when you pick her up I wouldn't worry even tho it's heartbreaking for you. She obviously prefers your company - take it as a compliment!
