2 year old - great eater but lazy and won't sit at table

My DS is nearly 2 - he has a good diet and eats lots of fruit and veg to the envy of some of my friends so his diet isn't the problem.

What is the problem is that he insists on being fed after a couple of spoons himself and won't sit at the table for his entire dinner even though he will eat more. If he has the iPad (rarely) he will munch away happily at the table. Outside the house he doesn't eat really. He eats at the childminders and people's houses but anywhere else it's just snacks.

He will not learn to sit at the table though, if you then let him eat after he's left.
If you feel it's important to sit at the table (which I do, but not everyone on here will agree with us) then you need to be consistent so he learns food is only available when sitting up at the table. You say he eats well, so he will probably learn this pretty quickly if you are consistent.

Alternatively, sit him in a high chair, strapped in so he has to sit there.
