dh created a monster... a friend gave ds a lovely little Thomas lunchbox and ds was right smitten because it has a tschutschu on it. dh decided ds must like Thomas (and boy was he right) and bought him a simple hardboard book, showing 5 of the main engines. Since that day we get the book shoved at us first thing in the morning and throughout the day to be 'read' to ds . Hey it's great that he loves books, but if I have to read that book one more time... argh. O.k. advantage... I finally know which engine is which, but... guess what ds is cuddling this very moment to finally go to sleep...

yup...

the book!

I tried swapping it for a Thomas sock as naturally much softer, but no... now he's grabbing both things in his little hands

ginmummy ds is the same ... he can spot Thomas miles away!

Bozza... look at it this way maybe your ds will have a budding career as an engineer

Hunkermunker - talking about his new baby brother? do you actually have 5 kids now??? if so... wow... I'm at breaking point with 2!

We took ds to a Thomas day out (Severn Valley railway) for his 3rd birthday, he was so excited he visibly shook and was speechless (a first!)....

DS (2.1) has one LEG called Thomas, the other one is James, and the only way I can get him into his trousers in the morning is to say that Thomas and James are racing into a tunnel...

we took our dcs t oa 'day out with Thomas' just before Easter at Quainton in Buckinghamshire (a lovely place for a day out)...and ds still talks about it now. If he is upset or hurts himself, he talks about the 'Thomas day' to cheer himself up again! ['aawwwwwww, bless!' emoticon]

Harrogate Mum do you mean the little collectable boks with all the pictures on the back? My ds dazzled the HVs at about 18 months by pointing out not only all the trains, but the tiny other trains in the background of the pictures! [straying into the scary realms of Thomas one-upmanship here!!! ]

On that theory my DD would be a demolition expert.

harrogatemum · 07/11/2006 19:39

texasrose - yes thats the ones!!!

FrayedKnot · 07/11/2006 19:42

Oh yes, marmee, my failsafe tooth brushing trick is to say we are going to polish up the engines in the engine shed - then we go round and name them - works a treat.

texasrose · 09/11/2006 07:38

In this house toothbrushing is Thomas (or James or Henry or whoever - I change the names to keep it interesting) going into the tunnel.

When ds was little we used to do that for food as well...!
