farting in front of children what age should we stop?

We have a lot of fun in our house, sometimes this includes laughing at each others farts (andBURPS) but I'm getting worried that my dd's (4 and 2 yo) will not behave well outside the home and might be a bit loose with there farting n burping. We never do it outside home or with other children, we've got rules. My hub is not so bad as me (I can't help it!) but should we rain it in, will it effect the kids badly? Any advise pls thank you so much

I don't think you have to repress it, maybe just don't treat it as too much of a joke. My parents have always farted openly in front of me and they just say 'pardon me' and carry on. We do the same with DS and he never collapses in giggles.

Never... You just teach them about when's an appropriate place to do it and laugh about it, and when it's inappropriate. It's a great safe example of teaching the different contexts and situations you might find yourself in and how you have to act differently.

Heh, heh, you do realise though that your kids will tell their mates, teachers, and indeed innocent members of the public all about the wind in your household, so even if you think it's all in the privacy of your own home, it soon wont be...

We still let rip in front of our 11yo - who has apparently told his class that I am the world's best farter.

I think it depends on whether you mind people knowing or not. I always assume that everyone farts, so it doesn't matter in the slightest if people know that I do. (And it's nice to be good at something!)

We don't do it in public or at work, just at home. If you can't fart freely in your own home then when can you? I would explode!

well, this has mean my 3yo has done her first pun/joke by herself...

she farted and said "parp-on me" instead of "pardon me" because we call them parps...
