My 14 month old daughter is scared of her shoes !!!

Although my baby isn't yet walking I got her feet measured and bought her first shoes approx 6 weeks ago. She had her feet measured ok and tried shoes on without any problem. However since then she wont wear them and if I do get them on her she will get very upset and try to take them off.
Wondered if anybody else has had a similar problem and would welcome any suggestions.

Tbh if she isnt walking then she had no need for shoes. Id just take them away. Once she has been walking a few weeks, then get her re measured and get a new pair.

If its for warmth, get some slipper socks or padder type things. This may help her adjust in the interim.

I'd echo the advice above. She doesn't need shoes and they may make it harder for her to find her balance. Bare feet or slippers with anti-slip pads. When she does start walking re-measure her feet as they do grow really quickly at that stage.

When she does need shoes play silly games with t hem, put on your nose, etc.

I'm kind of surprised shop sold them to you; standard advice is to wait until 6 weeks after they are walking confidently. I did let mine out barefoot / in socks/ in pre walkers (no regrets), but stiff shoes, yeah, no need until they are well strong walkers.

thank you all. Thought I was doing the right thing by getting the shoes just before she walked so as to get used to them but obv not. she has got some 'ugg' type soft soled boots but is no keener on them. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come with a difficult child, my son was so much easier!

What sort of shoe are they. Does she stand? We got sold some of the awful cruising shoes dd hated them refused to stand in them as they are thin so you feel the surfaces which outside are cold and bumpy. as soon as she got a proper pair she was away.

They are 'proper' shoes and her feet were measured correctly at the shop so don't think the shoes hurt as such, it's more a fear thing. have been tempted to get cruisers to see if that might help but think I will leave it till she is walking independently and see what happens.

I'm surprised you got proper shoes tbh. shops usually dont like to sell shoes to children who aren't walking or have been walking less than six weeks.
