Hi all I'm new to this so please bear with me, my lo is 4 weeks old and is on gaviscon for silent reflux she has been on aptimil since birth but whenever she is awake she is crying she constantly has wind and seems to have constant tummy ache my gp has suggested swapping formula just in case it doesn't agree with her but I feel nervous about doing it I was thinking about trying hipp organic has anyone tried this?

Many thanks

tbh I would try something else instead of gaviscon. It's crap imo just makes them constipated.

I do agree with you it has made her slightly constipated but it has helped her reflux, just feel at the end of my tether.

I would get something better in that case - rinitidine maybe? Go and see a different a doctor. If the reflux is properly sorted then she will be more comfortable I imagine.

My HV said all the babies she knew who had been poorly on formula had been on hipp organic...maybe one to avoid

Thanks all we have been referred to paediatrics just waiting for appt, it was my gp that suggest changing formula incase it didn't agree with her, what about cow and gate 1st milk?

I thought cow and Gate were actually the same but aptimil was the premium one that they charge more for?

I had both of mine on sma gold, there are also various 'comfort' ones.

I just feel like I don't know where to start! I know she needs the ranatidine and I will push for that but I hate seeing her crying in pain with a windy tummy thanks for the replies anyway x

There's some evidence that 70% of babies with reflux have a cows milk protein sensitivity and do better on extensively hydrolysed or amino acid based formulas. I would ask the GP to give you a trial of something like Nutramigen or Neocate to see if that helps.
