my 2 year old is reading etc need advice

hi i have a 2 year old son that is reading and knows all even his double phonics knows how to count to 20 and back and can pick out individual numbers knows all his upper and lower case letters he can sings whole songs he knows all his colors, animals and sounds body parts, plus alot more! i'm here asking other parents for guidance because i want to nurture his abilities but need some advice on how to go about it plus there is nowhere that i know of to take my child to get him assessed can anyone help thanks.

clairebee, I don't think the NHS or public education system are going to be much help as they don't really see high intelligence as a special need - I think it is, I remember at school a colleague of mine getting an assisted place at the local private school after one of our more enlightened teachers realised that he was being disruptive because he was bored. (I on the other hand just sat there being bored because as well as being able to score 180 on a Mensa IQ test I was also very into pleasing authority. A model child...)

Anyway, Mensa might be able to help, specially when he is older? I went to some of their events when I was a young teenager and found it reassuring to be around other people who were "brainy". At the moment I think your DS is probably fine just pursuing his own interests but I think brainy kids as they get older need to have a peer group they can relate to, specially if they're being bullied, and they need to be challenged intellectually, to have the experience of struggling to understand something and not being the smartest person in the room.
