3-4 year old playing up at nursery sports day

I need some help with this: my 3 half year old had his nursery sports day today. It started at 3.30 and we had had a busy and exciting day in the city beforehand. We went to his sports day at 3.30 like all children who do not normally attend the nursery on a Friday. My son was tired and a bit keyed up but the event was an annual one and really special. He behaved really badly. He didn't listen to me and at one stage was tearing around charging into other children, I took him aside and he was slightly better but still continued to challenge me and generally attempt to cause a scene. He was quite aggressive and physical. He would have screamed blue murder had I just left and it would have spoilt the event for alot of people. I need some advice?

He was probably too hot and overtired. Write it off, he's still a baby.

Agree. There's no way I would have had a busy day before his sports day. He's little, he would have been exhausted poor boy (I have a 3.5 year old boy and am a bit Hmm) at organised events for young ones.

My 5 to would struggle with a sports day that started at 3.30, especially if, as pp have said, we had done a lot beforehand. That seems very late to begin something that's going to be tiring for them.

Gah, '5 yo'.

He's only three so it was probably all a bit too much for him. He wouldn't know what a sports day was at three and then there's all the parents and he'd already had a big day.

Are you thinking that he's like that all the time when he's at nursery? I bet he isn't. He was probably just overwhelmed. I would just forget about it.
