20 month old an angel for childminder but a devil for me - desperately need tips on dealing with it!

I really need help with my 20 month old DS and his behaviour. For the last few months he will not listen to a word I say. He hits me, throws his food, runs off if I need to dress him etc, throws his toys at me, says NO! to everything and its really starting to grind me down. What makes it worse is he is nothing like this with the childminder. If she says to not do something he will listen and will not even try half the things I mentioned above with her. Yet with me when I say no etc he take no notice and just laughs. I'm really worried he's going to get worse and worse. Anyone got any tips on how to deal with it? Does this sound like a normal phase?! Help!!

What do you do if he hits you? Have you read Toddler Taming or House of the Tiny Tearaways? Both should be available in your library Smile

I think it's just a horrible phase. Ds1 was like this between 16-18 months and I thought it would never get better. At 21 months however, he is absolutely lovely, a complete joyGrin

. I have the exact same thing with my 19 month old, a little terror at home and an angel at the childminders!

I don't have the solution though, sorry.

Thanks guys! Sort of nice to know I'm not on my own although I do sympathise! My wine consumption has deffo upped recently ha.

When he hits I try to ignore him and carry on with what we're doing but if its a particularly forceful hit I tell him no we don't hit quite sternly. But he doesn't take a blind bit of notice!!
