Food Allergy+ Fussy eater+ Can't chew and he is 19 months old!

Hi mums,
Just want to share with u what is going on with my child who is 19 moths old. He has cow's milk allergy and he is VERY fussy eater and can't chew. Each meal takes around 2 hours to finish, and I have to feed him piece after piece and entertain him by TV and toys in order for him to eat! I sent him to a nursery for a 8 months, two days a week, and he was getting home absolutely starving so I took him off fro the nursery. Please mums tell me how to deal with the most fussy toddler ever!. I really need advises!

What happens if you don't feed him/put the TV on etc?

Have him checked for tongue tie. By somebody who knows what they are looking for which may not neccessarily be your HV/GP.

How did breast/bottle feeding go?

He will not eat anything and/or will throw the food on the floor.

How long will he not eat for? If he doesn't eat anything at breakfast will he eat lunch or tea/snacks?

No he will not eat but will drink formula during day and night. He would be happy to stay on the formula only. He was bottle fed.

I'd take him to the HV or gp if I were you. I've been through a similar issue with my ds and researched it heavily.
My ds would eat, and had no issues with his actual diet or intake as loves stews and fish etc, but didn't seem to chew and was gagging on dry / textured food. To cut a long story short hes 21 months now and it's much improved. HV felt there was nothing physically wrong, just a combination of constant teething, sensitive gag and preference. I also have to admit, I'd pandered to it a bit and was only feeding him sloppy food. My husband reckoned from the off that he was fine and I've been giving him normal food and he's managed fine.
Will he eat crisps, biscuits and stuff he has to chew?? My ds would eat all those types of things you see, so we knew he could actually chew if he wants.
There are certain issues that kids can have with food and swallowing and there are things that can be done to help. He may need a salt referral. Hope this helps.
