My 15 month old boy will only go to sleep perfectly when Daddy puts him down but not me. Help!

When put to bed by Dad, my boy will lie down in his cot and close his eyes and fall asleep. Sometimes takes 20 mins or so but there is no fuss or tears, day naps and night time. When I try, we have tears, standing up in the cot, more tears...can last 45 mins. This all changed when I went away for a couple of nights and my partner was doing bedtime, which i had always done, mostly by BF him down. This was over 6 weeks ago now and he has not BF for about the same amount of time.

What do I do???

I have copied exactly what my partner does with his bedtime routine but makes no difference. Night times are fine as my partner can be here but the daytimes are horrid and its so hard to see him so upset, especially when I know he can go to sleep with no fuss.

Any advise would be gratefully received. Thank you.

My 10 month old ds will only go down in his cot if put in by Dad. Whenever I try, same as you I copy his routine, ds cries and clings. I am still bfeeding and.he isn'y hungry. Dh thinks he can smell me...he might be right!

Also, he will nap during the day if I hold him or if out in his pram or car seat. If at home and I try lying him down he starts clinging, however he will allow my Mum to lie him down and sleep for her.

Maybe dh is right about smell!

Sorry...that wasn't helpful and I don't have any advice but just wanted to say you're not alone.

Sorry to hear you are having the same problem. It's so hard. My boy hasn't been breastfeeding now for 7 weeks or so. He has recently stopped sleeping in his buggy too!!

Lets hope someone reads this that can offer us some advise!

Good luck with it all. X
