Anyone have any ideas on what to do with 17 month old on a rainy day?

Title says it all really. It's horrible outside and I need ideas on what I can do with my daughter. Painting she isn't into, puzzles she doesn't quite get, play dough she wants to eat and she can't jump in muddy puddles yet because she's only just started walking and is still in cruising shoes. Any ideas please?

Pull all the cushions/covers off your sofa/bed and build a den. Have a big bubbly bath. Empty the pan cupboard and have a homemade musical instrument session. Make some cookies

My 18mo DS played for ages the other day with a few plastic bowls and cups that I filled with dried lentils. Lots of pouring, mostly on the floor. But it kept him entertained for a while.

17-month-old DS loves to 'read' books, play trains and cars, dance to songs on TV/that we sing together (head shoulders knees and toes, wheels on the bus), muck about with toys in the bath...

But right now he's got more toys than he knows what to do with thanks to Santa, so boredom isn't an issue...

Oh and a piggy bank and pile of coppers is another favourite here. I have to keep a close eye to make sure he doesn't ingest any though!

Agree with piggy bank. Just spent a good half hour counting and putting money on bank with 2 DS.(2 & 4).

Going To make cookies later .

My dd seems to have the attention span of a goldfish. She just won't sit still long enough. :( tried homage playdough and all she wanted to do was eat it and throw it off the table! The coins she just wanted to throw across the room and eat. I give up!! Lol

Sound like she is into throwing things...squishy ball, balloons, rolling cars down I slope?

My boys liked going to the pet shop to look at the fish in the tanks :) Cheaper than going to an aquarium!

Give her a duster and get her to help you clean.
We have wooden floors downstairs so the boys used to like sitting on a small rug and be slid/dragged up and down the hall.
Set up some boxes and let her throw stuff at them to knock them down.
Make an obstacle course for her to crawl through climb over etc
Teddy bears picnic for lunch.

Do you have any gift bags left over? Give her 1 (or 2, or 3..) and tell her you are going shopping. Watch as she fills it with random crap from around the house her 'shopping'

Be prepared to spend a long time 'unpacking' her shopping later though.
